When I started doing acoustic shows again a few years back, I never intended on writing and completing whole records for the cause... not to mention by myself. But after I released "Don't Try This at Home" on a whim, the positive response was inspiring! It made me realize that some of my material is more digestible this way and has the ability to reach a completely different audience. It's certainly a quicker recording process when you don't have to worry about a full band of instruments to track and mix. Consequently, what began as unreleased bonus material, has now evolved into full blown solo-efforts.

This second effort "Extended Moments of Clarity", is a more deliberate record than my first. This time I went for variety, using more of the upbeat side of this instrument, rather than just the mellow side. I kept the lyrics light and fun on some songs while heavy and intense on others. I wanted acoustic songs that would rock and groove along side heartfelt soulful numbers and wanted better dynamic builds within each song.

From incorporating loop beats and synthesizer embellishments to swiping butter knives on grill racks, I infused more rhythmic percussion to the songs, mindful of how one guy could still play them live. The result is a mixture of traditional and electronic instruments all built around the acoustic guitar.

Musically, It's an even combination of modern melodic rock and traditional blues music that manages to stay mostly upbeat. This music was designed for grooving and cruising! That's why there is a car on the cover :)

Lyrically, the whole idea behind, "Extended Moments of Clarity" is to embrace the present tense. To own every single moment we are in because it's the only one that really counts. And all our past experiences just prepare us for who and where we are right now. That there is a much bigger picture connecting all of these moments that is beautiful and benevolent... and we are always adding to it :)
