about

Where to begin on this album...

Listening back to "Zero" all these years later, I can't help but wish we would have recorded a lot more. At the time of this CD, we probably had about 50 original songs floating around. No joke.

See, we were one of those rare bands that started out with ALL original songs and slowly added cover songs into the fold to keep the clubs happy. So by the time we got around to recording our "demo", we had a ton of material to choose from and only a small budget to record.

Since we initially thought this CD would just be a quick demo of our stuff, we skimmed the top of our list and stuck to the easily digested material. After hearing back a few mixes from the first two songs we tracked ("Quarantine" and "On the Other Hand"), we decided that this would be more of an album release after all and mixed one more song to bring the total original songs to 7.

Yeah. 7 songs. Out of 50. But it's not just the quantity of material that bugs me, it's the variety of material as well. "Zero" plays out like a demo of a greatest hits compilation to anyone following the band at the time. While I am proud of the writing, it's only a small representation of what we were doing and will always sound a bit incomplete to me.

Nonetheless, it does show a pretty ambitious first attempt at a debut with bigger dreams than a budget would allow us and it's all part of the band's journey :) ENJOY!
