about
Hey folks,
Anyone remember cassette singles with bonus tracks included before the official release of an album? Yea, those were the days...
Well, consider this an unofficial B-side to "I'm a Song". We figured the throwback nature of this one would be a perfect choice to attach to the new single.
As evident here, the forthcoming AF5 album includes a variety of players and instruments, so we've been taking our time with the recording and production on every track. Not only is each song treated as its own entity with unique tones and tailored parts, but those individual parts also fit into an album big picture. Such ambition takes the proper amount of labor to fine tune the detail in each song for track consistency and dynamic impact.
So while you all patiently wait for the whole 9 yards, enjoy this track to help you through the holiday season. Lyrically, it's recognizing that human connections are more important than accumulating wealth. Musically, it's somewhere between Joe Walsh and King's X. My brother Tim even heard some old "Nazareth" in the song! YES SIR! I thought that band name reference was perfect for an early Christmas release ;) ENOY!
lyrics
LET YOUR LOVE SHINE
Who can you trust in this cutthroat jungle
Of hate and greed
Where everyone's out for themselves
And no one's real?
We're all swimming in this
Ocean of empty souls
With nothing to show for ourselves
But why we feel alone
So let your love shine on me
I wanna feel the heat of your skin
Let your love shine on me
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Mmmm
Trying to get ahead
We're all living in the red
And sometimes forget in our heads
What really matters
Keep trading off our lives
One workday at a time
Selling our souls for a dime
And a measly dollar to hold
So let your love shine on me
I wanna feel the heat of your touch
Let your love shine on me
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine on me
Oooh, let your love shine on me
Let your love come shine on me
Shine on me
Uh, shine on me
Shine
Shine
Shine on me
C'mon let your love shine on me
I wanna feel complete in your light
Let your love shine on me
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Let your love shine
Shine on me
Shine on me
Shine on me
Shine on me
Shine
Shine
Won't you let your love shine
