One of the catchier tunes on the disc, I wrote and recorded this song for someone a while back and left it sitting as a demo. When I started getting ideas for doing a second acoustic record, this song fit in perfectly, so I re-recorded it.

Because the words in the title were sung out of order, I called it Sparkle "/" Shine. This song is a bittersweet fairy tale. Although it's a bit sullen, there is a child-like innocence and a glimmer of hope to the lyrics. There's a vulnerability to this song that is unique to the rest of the CD. It's one of the few left WITHOUT percussion.

Sonically, I wanted this whole record to shimmer. I wanted a sparkling production that was bright and lively with lyrics both light and intimate. This song embodied all of that.
