about
I consider this song the first track of side two. It was originally written for CG, but once I decided to call the record, "Extended Moments of Clarity", I wanted to include this song as a title track of sorts. This challenge had me playing the acoustic as a more percussive instrument at times. I added a snare and kick drum to the mix and experimented a lot with extreme panning and assorted effects. The chorus parts certainly have a U2 influence and fit in nicely with the inspirational parts of the CD... but this song still manages to ROCK.
"Kinetic (You Move Me)" is about being inspired by someone "real" when you least expect it. It's experiencing something so pure and true with this person, that time freezes and you completely lose yourself in the raw moment.
When somebody reaches in and turns on a part of you that you had forgotten about... you rediscover hope. That's HUGE! These are defining moments in our lives or "Moments of Clarity". I think the goal is to surround yourself with these amazing souls as often as possible. To somehow EXTEND each of these great moments out longer and longer until they become a whole life of clarity :)
lyrics
KINETIC (YOU MOVE ME)
(Roush)
(4-3-2-1)
I'm burning out
Lookin' round
But it's all the same
In a faceless crowd
No one's standing out
Through this haze
Then between the obscene
Comes a moment of truth
A moment of clarity
Shining through
You move me
You move me
Well I've lost my way
Drifting out
Of touch again
With a world estranged
Selling out
With no shame
In between the obscene
Comes a moment of peace
A moment of dignity
'Cause honestly...
You move me
You move me
The depth of your sincerity
Gives me a moment of clarity
You move me
In a world of synthetics
You are kinetic
You keep pushing me through
(2x)
You move me
You move me
The depth of your sincerity
Gives me a moment of clarity
You move me
