An early demo of this song was the FIRST thing I ever recorded in my home studio. I eventually re-recorded it all and added a circus-like organ part to it. One of the tougher relationships to end in my life, this metaphor captured exactly what I was feeling at the time. It's still lyrically one of my favorite songs I've written to date and the reason why I chose the specific tightrope art for the back cover.
lyrics
TIGHTROPE
Under the spotlight
I'm out on a limb
I somehow find myself up here again
I'm closer to heaven
Than I’ve ever been
But further from guessing how this ends
I’m walkin’ on your tightrope
It's a balance of doubt and high hope
Will I turn around?
Will I get across?
Or will I fall?
It's truly amazing
My balancing act
I somehow juggle our fiction from our fact
Just keeping things straight
And trying to reason
Reason myself out of pain
‘Cause I’m walkin’ on your tightrope
It’s a balance of doubt and high hope
Will I turn around?
Will I get across?
Or will I fall?
