Truth be told, I wrote this song about the FX series "Rescue Me"...and purposely borrowed the title. I tried to get it heard by Mr. Leary himself to no avail. Once the show aired it's final season (without my song of course) I thought it better to offer as a 9/11 tribute piece...which is what that show was all about in the first place. This is the first song I presented from the CD with an actual video and it was chosen to be the first release played on the radio.
lyrics
RESCUE ME
I'm running out of blue sky
I'm running out of time
Running out of patience
Waiting
Lord
Rescue me
I've been stumbling
Through these city streets
I've been drinking
All my ghosts to sleep
God please won't you hear my plea?
And rescue me
From a world full of anger
Rescue me
From myself going down in flames
I'm empty as a soul can be
Choking on the smoke
Of tragedy
God please can you hear my plea?
Rescue me
From a world full of hatred
Rescue me
From myself going down in flames
So many lives were taken
I know my faith was shaken
Running out of patience
Waiting
Lord
Set me free
Oh lord
Rescue me
