about

This is a laid back, western-flavored rock tune with a positive message. It's about getting yourself up to do the hard work that needs done. It's about not letting the best part of you die with some hardship...and NOT "beating a dead horse" about something negative that happened. It's basically saying, "You are not dead yet...stop acting like it". I bought a couple of percussive instruments after watching the natives play a dozen or so renditions of "La Bamba" on a trip to the Dominican Republic. Fun! I came home and immediately used them on this track.

lyrics

DEADHORSE

There's a ghost
Living your eyes
There's a postmortem
Feeling inside
It's haunting you
And stopping you
From being in the now

Don't wither in the dust
Stand up

Don't lay down like a
Dead horse
Show me some life
Don't lay down like a
Dead horse
Everyone's waiting for you now
Don't lay down

There's a bolt
Broken on a rusty chain
There's a path
To an open gate
It's calling you
What's stalling you
From walking through?

What are you waiting for?
Wake up

Don't lay down like a
Dead horse
Show me some life
Don't lay down like a
Dead horse
Everyone's waiting for you now
Don't lay down

There's a willow weeping in the wind
There's a tomb that the dust is burying
It's not for you
It's not your time
Don't lay down and die...

Don't lay down like a
Dead horse
Show me some life
Don't lay down like a
Dead horse
Everyone's waiting for you now
Don't lay down
